COMMENTS

The Superman dream reality is based on an old pre-crisis imaginary story where Superman became the Green Lantern of Krypton. However the Krypton seen here is the modern one. The story of the “Greatest Green Lantern of All” was published in a 1972 issue of Superman and was written by Elliot S. Maggin.

The Aquaman dream reality is based seemingly on the Kevin Cosner film Waterworld and his costume reminiscent of the camouflaged one designed for the Neal Pozner 1986 Aquaman mini-series.

The Batman dream reality is a combination of the old Earth-Two married Batman and the dark future of the Dark Knight Returns.

The Wonder Woman dream reality is based on a revamp from 1978 when the Amazons left for another dimension rendering Diana with out her powers, she then turned into a "female James Bond" complete with white costume.

The original Green Arrow was the first non-charter member of the original JLA just as the new Green Arrow is the first ongoing new member of this JLA (bar Tomorrow Woman). Connor's joining has been mentioned in previous issues.

The editor changes this issue to Dan Raspler.

SYNOPSIS

On the distant planet Krypton the dying Green Lantern Tomar Re passes his ring onto the adult Kal El. On Earth Aquaman battles to protect humanity in a world where the seas have swamped the land. Meanwhile Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle wait nervously as the new Robin, Bruce Wayne Jnr. has his first outing with Batman (Tim Drake). In truth all these realities are dreams controlled by the psycho-chemicals of the Key. The dreams play out as Wonder Woman is introduced to an "Indiana Jones" style reality. Each dream draws the dreamers deeper into conflicts that they must defeat.

Alone on the Watchtower is Green Arrow (Connor Hawke) who arrived for his initiation ritual after the Key had captured the League. As the Key's consciousness evolves under his own psycho-chemicals he leaves his robotic Keymen to battle Green Arrow. During the battle Connor's quiver is damaged and he is forced to raid the trophy room for the trick arrows once used by his father.
