Over the last sixty years National Periodicals/DC Comics has given popular culture some of its most famous and complex characters. The shared reality that is called today the DC Universe had its genesis way back in the pages of ALL STAR COMICS #3 with the first meeting of the Justice Society. Since then it has grown via relaunches, reboots, parallel dimensions, the Crisis, the Zero Hour and countless retcons. With writers such as Grant Morrison pushing back the boundaries of the DCU ever further these pages are an attempt to catalogue the nature of that varied universe, the way its inhabitants relate and those that now never were!

LINKS

There are numerious sites about DC Comics on the web, I recogment the following if your looking for a more indepth look into the mechanics behind the DCU. For other DC Sites try the DCU-Related Web Page List or my JLA Hotlist.

  • WPage/Chroma City A page recommended for the shear weight of material it contains. Here you will find annotations for the Crisis, Kingdom Come, Amalgam and the Watchmen.
  • Crisis on Infinite Earths A synopsis to the Crisis issue by issue with scans of some of the covers.
  • Zero Hour: Crisis in Time FAQ An FAQ covering the sequel to the Crisis. It covers the major characters, events and chronological changes that occurred.
  • Books of Magic Annotations Back when the Books of Magic and Vertigo were closer to the DCU. This covers the excellent mini-series with a lot of in-depth background to the mystic side of the DCU.
  • Alan Moore's Twilight of the Superheroes Just after the Crisis and long before Kingdom Come DC turned down an epic storyline by Alan Moore for a series that would bring together the fragmented DCU and to push the superheroes into the Twilight of the Gods. This is a copy of the proposal the Moore submitted to DC.
  • The Comics Archive This site contains Checklists for Silver and Golden Age villains as well as the extensive and definitive Justice Society Fact File.
