Owlman is the twisted anti-matter duplicate of the matter Batman. He is Thomas Wayne Jnr, Bruce Wayne’s unborn younger brother in the matter universe. In the anti-matter universe the tragic street robbery that killed Bruce Wayne’s parents instead killed Bruce and his mother. His father, Police Commissioner Thomas Wayne, and Thomas Jnr. survived. The junior Thomas blamed his father for their deaths and created the villainous identity of Owlman to extract revenge against Commissioner Wayne and his police force. Owlman is a genius with a drug-enhanced brain. Owlman is having a long-standing and semi-public affair with Superwoman. The only thing that keeps her husband, Ultraman, at bay are a set of unidentified negatives and Owlman’s usefulness to the Crime Syndicate. [JLA: EARTH 2]

During Brainiac’s conspiracy to annihilate both Earths Owlman’s standing in Gotham City was seriously compremised when Batman joined forces to brake the back of Boss Gordon’s criminal syndicate. This allowed Comissioner Wayne to turn Gotham into a police state and effectively oppose Owlman. [JLA: EARTH 2] Owlman retained control of the Gotham Syndicates and extended his control of the city when Jackson Drake failed to repay a favor to Lucius Fox and Owlman had him executed by Ultraman. Wayne also gained control of Drake’s son, but his intentions have not been detailed. [JLA #108]
